There is good news for the 23-year-old woman who was arrested in Cape Town while waiting to go for a job interview - she got the job.
Briefly.co.za previously reported that Esethu Mcinjana was searched and arrested on the Sea Point beachfront while waiting for an interview at a hotel in the neighbourhood.
She spent the night at Sea Point Police Station after having been accused of being in possession of equipment to break into cars.
Mcinjana was released the following afternoon but because of the arrest, Mcinjana missed her job interview.
In a change of fortune, the 23-year-old was called by the hotel and given a chance to attend an interview on Monday. Her application was successful and she has been accepted for a paid learnership. Speaking to GroundUp, Mcingana said that she was not comfortable going to the same area.
"But I went because I wanted the job so badly.”
She has been looking for a job since the beginning of the year and currently lives with her mother, who works as a security guard at a university, and her three-year-old sister.
“I am more than happy that I got the job and thankful for the second opportunity that was granted to me."
Regarding the 'false' arrest, she said that the police station still has her house keys and they have not told her when they would return them.
According to a statement released by the SAPS, an investigation is underway.
