Former DA leader Helen Zille and former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela are set to have tea to discuss Zille's recent controversial "black privilege" tweet.

Zille caused a stir online when she said that black privilege meant being able to loot from state coffers and then be re-elected into government.

Madonsela told Zille to withdraw her statement and apologise.

Zille then invited Madonsela to meet in person to have a conversation about the issue, to which Madonsela agreed. Their meeting is scheduled to take place on Tuesday.

In her tweet about the meeting, Madonsela urged Zille to brush up on her mathematics and suggested that equal opportunity is an "illusion" if not coupled with "reparation of compound disadvantage".

Zille replied by saying she would ask her economist husband to fill her on on the relevant mathematics principles.

South Africans on social media reacted positively to the news that the two were meeting. Some even asked that their conversation be televised or turned into a podcast.

One Twitter user, MTimmal, wrote, "If you two amazing women could only join forces, somehow, what an incredible powerhouse you would be," according to Times Live.
