The much-anticipated meeting has taken place and Mzansi was afforded a sneak peak into the situation. After clashing on social media, Thuli Madonsela and Helen Zille finally got to sit down over the promised cup of tea to discuss black privilege.
Helen Zille had Mzansi up in arms when she claimed that black privilege was being able to loot a nation and then get re-elected.
Briefly.co.za reported at the time that Thuli Madonsela, formerly SA's Public Protector, had asked Zille to withdraw her comments.
Zille had responded by inviting Madonsela to come have a cup of tea so that they could discuss their different perceptions on the controversial topic.
It seems as if the two women had parted ways on better terms than what they had come together on, with Madonsela thanking Zille for her time and hospitality.
Zille had dubbed the 3-hour meeting a productive one, saying that they had each had a 'time to speak, listen and learn'.
South Africa expressed their pride over this meeting of two very different minds, heralding it as a step in the right direction.
For some citizens, it seemed as if Zille had done irreparable damage with her controversial statements on the matter, reports TimesLIVE.
However, for the most part at least, people were pleased that they could set their differences aside long enough to engage with each other:
