Martizburg United has retained its Premiership status after beating the Royal Eagles 2 -0 in a post season promotion-relegation playoff match.
On Wednesday, Maritzburg United faced off against the Royal Eagles in a match that would determine their PSL fate for the next season.
Soccer Laduma took to Twitter to announce that Martizburg United retained its PSL spot following a 2-0 win at the Chatsworth Stadium.
"Maritzburg United will be in the Absa Premiership next season after victory over Royal Eagles saw them clinch first place in the promotion/relegation play-offs," the post read.
Briefly.co.za gathered the Twitter streets were flooded with grateful fans who were impressed by Maritzburg United's performance in the playoff match.
Social media user @MzimaLumkile commented: "Maritzburg United are bullying these NFD teams like no one's business. I feel the pain for them. This is not fair."
Another tweep, @PrinceSobayeni, wrote: "Well done Maritzburg united on winning the playoffs and retaining their Absa Premiership status for next season well played. Coach Tinkler turned the ship around."
Nondumiso ‘Nduh’ Zakwe, who goes by the Twitter handle @Nondu04, added: "ITS A WRAP at the Chartsworth Stadium where Maritzburg United secure their #AbsaPrem status beating Royal Eagles by 2-0.
