Proteas bowling sensation, Kagiso Rabada, has started the Inspire and Ignite Initiative under his foundation.
The project aims to sponsor sporting equipment to 2 500 deserving young people under the age of 25.
Rabada hopes the initiative will help others to unlock their sporting potential.
The young fast bowler has urged the public to get involved and will match any donations made, up to R100 000.
Cape Talk reported on the project as they interviewed Rabada’s father, Dr Mpho Rabada.
Dr Rabada said, “He has pledged that he will match up to R100 000 of his own money and he is asking South Africans to donate so that we can make this a reality. The beneficiaries will be announced on Youth Day.”
Briefly.co.za understands that Rabada told his father of his desire to mark 25 years of democracy and with his birthday falling on Africa Day.
Any members of the public wishing to contribute can do so via the foundation’s website.
