Poet and businesswoman, Jessica Mbangeni responded to people asking her why she wore a lion outfit to the South African Music Awards (SAMAs) this past weekend.
Jessica Mabangeni was one of the most talked about celebrity at the SAMAs this past weekend, and it wasn't all good.
Most people mocked and laughed at the poet for the lion outfit she had worn to the awards ceremony. Some people liked it while others compared it to the outfit that US singer Beyoncé has worn.
But Jessica wasn’t fazed by the negative hype. She told the Daily Sun that her outfit wasn’t just for show but intended to send a message to all Africans but more so, to show that she is a liberated African.

“I want my people to know that I’m liberated and here to teach those who care to listen. I’ve already provided costumes to various international productions such as Black Panther,” said Jessica.
For those who didn’t know, Jessica is also a fashion designer and owns Kwantu Afrocentric Designs. She has created outfits for Vusi Nova and Lady X, among many others.
According to the Daily Sun, an utfit of such exquisite design would cost between R40 000 and R70 000.
So for those who were laughing about Jessica’s outfits, don’t forget she’s laughing all the way to the bank.
