Mzansi rapper, Cassper Nyovest, was replying to his followers on Twitter, when he revealed that his record label, Family Tree Office/Studios has been put on hold due to him being in R7m debt.
Cassper revealed he landed himself in huge debt, R7million to be exact, after his successful #FillUpMosesMabhida concert. Due to the financial difficulties he was faced with, Cassper had not choice to halt his plans for build on his Family Tree Office and Studios.
This disclosure follows the hype of US rapper Jay-Z being the first hip-hop billionaire and Rihanna being declared the richest female musician. The news had opened up a conversation on Cassper’s Twitter time-line.
But when Cassper was asked if he had at least $2million and how much exactly did he have to his name, he was totally honest in his response saying he didn’t have that much money.
“Hai mina I don’t have shame. I’m just hustling. Ke kopantsa masente for now. Hopefully one day we will have the coins. For now, we working. Building. Reinvesting,” tweeted Cassper.
Cassper’s response raised a few eyebrows around his financial status. It also raised questions about his plans to build his so-called state-of-the-art Family Tree Office and Studios. But Cassper admitted that he went through a financial slumber after his last Fill Up concert.
Another follower asked Cassper how things at the Family Studio was coming along, and Cassper replied: "The Family Tree Office. Studios are on hold for now. Went trough a ditch after Mabhida. Had to pay 7 million Rand in debt, then the tax thing happened as well. I'm only starting to recover now. Shouls be back in progress in a couple of months and then we rock."
Some fans were genuine though and shared some positive words of encouragement to the rapper. Here are some of the comments:
