Reports recently surfaced that 14 lions escaped from the Kruger National Park on Thursday.

It was alleged that the lions were roaming freely through Phalaborwa and residents went into a state of panic.

Many South Africans took to social media in response.

Briefly.co.za noted some fearful reactions, but with some hilarious ones as well.

Michelle Pillay-Brown said, “I hope they know how to get to parliament, they will be doing us a huge favour.”
Zanele Sibiya commented, “South Africa is out of control, even the animals also escape from where they are captured.”
Patricia Scheepers Mansfield said, “I'm not setting foot out the door till they are caught.”

According to some, this was a serial problem with certain game parks.

Rendani Netshirungulu said, “Kruger must fix their fence it's not for the first time animals escaping their fence. Kruger national park it's putting the people at risk always is as if they don't care about people.”

Briefly.co.za also surveyed Twitter for responses and some South Africans are still in disbelief.

However, they maintained their sense of humour, despite the heightened sense of fear.
