Assassins reportedly tried to take out SABC's chief audit executive

The SABC's chief audit executive, Thamsanqa (Thami) Zikode, has reportedly survived an assassination attempt on Friday, 7 June. He was apparently followed home from the SABC by the would-be assassins.

Thamsanqa (Thami) Zikode, Chief audit executive at the SABC, escaped with his life after an attempt was made to assassinate him, according to News24.

Thamsanqa, who was appointed in 2017, was followed home by an unknown amount of people on Friday, 7 June.

The aspiring assassins opened fire on Thamsanqa, but he managed to get away without any real harm done.

Briefly.co.za gathered that Vuyo Mthembu, the SABC's spokesperson, confirmed the attempted attack on Thamsanqa.

"The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has learnt with shock, the news of the attempted assassination of its chief audit executive. He was followed by assailants who fired shots at him."

The attempt has been reported to the police and more news on this incident is sure to follow.
