The SAPS are looking for a woman who is believed to be behind the attempted assassination of SABC Chief audit executive, Thamsanqa (Thami) Zikode. Zikode was targeted on Friday, 7 June but survived the attack.
Police are looking for a 'lone woman' who has apparently hired hitmen to take out SABC Chief audit executive, Thamsanqa (Thami) Zikode.
The Citizen reports that the would-be assassins were hired to target Zikode, who is in charge of cleaning up the SABC.
Thamsanqa, who was appointed in 2017, was followed home by an unknown amount of people on Friday, 7 June, as reported on by Briefly.co.za.
It is reported that Zikode shot back at the attackers and wounded one man. The wounded suspect has been arrested, according to The Citizen's report.
The assassins left a getaway car in the South Gate area.
SABC board chair, Bongumusa Makhatini, said Zikode has been leading the internal audit department for a year and a half now.
"We have produced over one-hundred such reports that we have to follow through. We have to hold people accountable and Zikode is at the helm of driving that cleanup."
Makhathini is convinced this attack on Zikode was related to the SABC’s attempts to uncover those who had benefited from corruption at the organisation.
