Bonang Matheba announces her first movie, ‘Public Figure’ debut

Media personality, Bonang Matheba, is counting down the days for her new movie, Public Figure, to make its debut in cinemas this weekend.

This is Bonang Matheba's first venture into film-making. She's done a TV show, Being Bonang, come up with her own brand of 'champopo' and even has her hands in lots of other cool projects.

But being in a documentary is a first for Bonang. Queen B will be part of a film that looks at social media with the hopes of showing the realities behind it. Bonang is so excited about the movie premiere, which is this weekend, that she had to remind her fans to go watch it.

Bonang took to Twitter to share the news: "My first adventure into film-making, Public Figure, will be making its debut at the @encountersdoc on the 15th and 16th June 2019 in Jhb & Cape Town. Five months ago, Briefly.co.za reported that Bonang Matheba will be starring in a film that is set to hit our screens in 2019. The film, titled Public Figure, is a documentary that deals with the psychological effects of social media.

Working with producer Brian Corso, Bonang Matheba starred in this documentary. The film focuses on the use of social media, the impact it has on those who get their entertainment from it and those who make a living from it.

According to the film, the world's addiction to social media can be compared to the addiction that cocaine users have.
