With this in mind, we asked our readers to reveal what makes them feel ashamed about South Africa.

Briefly.co.za readers seemingly had many things to complain about as the post attracted over 400 comments within a few hours.

Many of the comments referred to flaws within our government, while others were directed at how South Africans behave.

Vincent Masina said, “CORRUPTION, GREED AND LAWLESSNESS......I feel like going abroad this is Not South Africa I envisioned.”
Siphosenkosi Sika Mbatha added, “Law is very weak and it’s like its favour the foreigners more than the citizens.”
Joe-nathan Wagner commented, “That Lucifer has taken control through governance and darker days lay ahead.”
Mpho Makwela said, “South Africa is No.2 in the Top10 countries with highest rape crime....that’s something I’m not proud of.”
