Public protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane has confirmed that President Cyril Ramaphosa has been implicated in her BOSASA investigation. This response comes in a letter sent to the Democratic Alliance, which had given Mkhwebane 48 hours to publish her long-overdue findings.
The Public Protector has confirmed the suspicions put forward in leaked documentation: President Cyril Ramaphosa has been implicated in her BOSASA investigation.
In a letter to DA leader Mmusi Maimane, Mkhwebane revealed that she had indeed served Ramaphosa with a notice regarding the matter.
Maimane had requested the Public Protector to investigate whether the president deliberately lied to Parliament about the R500 000 donation from the infamous company.
However, it was not all music to Maimane's ears. The Public Protector took a moment in her response to hit back at the opposition leader.
The Democratic Alliance had revealed that it would be bringing a motion to Parliament on Mkhwebane's ability to hold the office of Public Protector, reports BusinessLIVE.
In her letter addressed to Maimane, Mkhwebane says that she will still be around to release the report on the BOSASA matter, "unless you succeed in your party's motion to have me removed".
