A popular actor arrested and detained: Accused of assaulting woman

A famous Mzansi actor and producer, whose name is known to the publication, was arrested by the Johannesburg police and detained at the Central Joburg Police Station for allegedly assaulting a woman.

According to reports and social media, the actor was arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman at BlackAnt Lounge in Newtown, Johannesburg during his birthday celebration on Friday night.

The woman who laid the charges of assault against the actor spoke to the Daily Sun and confirmed that she had filed a case against the actor and wanted him arrested.

It is believed the actor handed himself over to the police at Joburg Central SAPS earlier today.

News of the incident first broke on Twitter after the victim’s friend, Puly (@PulyBeast) voiced her anger, posting a photo of the actor and a string of angry messages.

Puly also posted a video of the actor lighting a cigarette while Mosidi begged him to return her phone.

Puly wrote: “He busted her lip, followed her to the bathroom, and beat her up some more.

Meanwhile, yesterday, Briefly.co.za reported that gqom singer, Babes Wodumo, failed to appear at the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 11 June for her assault case against Mampintsha.

Babes Wodumo, who is the complainant in the case, was expected to present herself before court after the pair was referred to Families SA (Famsa) for mediation during Mampintsha’s last court appearance.

According to TshisaLive, state prosecutor, Ndoda January, told the court that Bongekile Simelane (popularly known as Babes Wodumo) was ill, but did not indicate what was wrong with her.

Mampintsha and his lawyer, Pay Magwaza, addressed the media outside the court. Magwaza spoke about the mediation sessions, saying the court case was postponed to 9 July pending more mediation sessions.
