The EFF in KwaZulu-Natal has accused some of the the ANC-led municipalities in the province of looting from state coffers.
The Red Berets want the eThekwini Metro placed under administration as a result.
The EFF also alleged that the Hawks will soon be arresting certain municipal officials on corruption charges.
The EFF's presence in the KZN legislature grew in this election from two seats to eight, according to eNCA, and they have become correspondingly more vocal.
The party has slammed the ANC leadership of several municipalities, saying they are not doing enough to stimulate the province's sluggish economy. Additionally, they have accused several municipalities of being corrupt.
The EFF's KZN Chair, for one, said that the local government struggled to collect revenue, but was still able to loot considerable amounts of public funds.
The EFF's criticism comes after Zandile Gumede, the mayor of Durban, was arrested on corruption charges and released on bail. She has since been suspended from the ANC.
This does not appear to be enough for the EFF, however. The party's KZN Chair said that he wanted the eThekwini Metro government to be dissolved and for the municipality to "go on a fresh election", Briefly.co.za has gathered.
