A sangoma has taken to social media to share a video of herself practising a traditional dance. The young spiritual healer posted 'umgidi' and Mzansi social media users were left impressed by her moves.
Umgidi is a dance done by traditional healers whenever there is an initiation, graduation of healers or just to celebrate spirituality.
These types of gatherings are said to please the ancestors because they show that the sangoma has fully accepted the calling. One does not need to be a sangoma to attend this type of gathering, but there is an element of sacredness surrounding it.
Umgidi is said to give one a chance to explore another part of their lives and to stretch their limits and discover their own powers within.
While many social media users were in awe at the beautiful ceremony, a few others were wary of the unfamiliar sight.
