25-year-old genius' invention wows Mzansi but also causes a stir

A social media post was intended to be inspirational and uplifting, but it had quite a polarising effect.

Twitter user, Ulrich Janse van Vuuren (@UlrichJvV), shared two tweets which praised the ingenuity of Ruben Ondo Ekang Angue for his brilliant invention.

Janse van Vuuren lauded the 25-year-old for his invention, which allows one to switch a light bulb on and off by making a simple phone call.

He shared photos and a video of the device and the post went viral since being shared on Wednesday.

Briefly.co.za noted the reaction from social media users and it was quite interesting to see how reactions differed.

Many tweeps were astonished that the young inventor was able to manufacture the device within a few hours.

However, not everyone was impressed and shared some harsh words in response.

One man even felt the post made a mockery of Africans.
