Floyd Shivamu, Deputy President for the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), has criticised accusations made against South African Public Protector, Busisiswe Mkhwebane.

Shivambu wrote in the City Press that Mkhwebane is “under siege” and called on members of all political parties to join him in standing up for her.

The EFF Deputy President also went on to compare Mkhwebane’s situation to what ex-Public Protector, Thuli Madonsela, experienced when she held the position, The Citizen reported.

“Madonsela was attacked and undermined by members of cabinet, MPs and journalist to protect a president who was a constitutional delinquent,” Shivambu explained.

Mkhwebane is being targeted with “misinformation claims”, according to Shivambu, which need to be rejected by South Africa.

Although Shivambu seems to paint Madonsela in a positive light in this comparison to Mkhwebane, the EFF second-in-command recently criticised the former Public Protector for meddling in Mkhwebane’s decisions, Briefly.co.za reported.

Shivambu told Madonsela to "relax" and "allow the incumbent to do her job".
