Children across the globe honoured their dads as Father’s Day was celebrated on Sunday.

One particular Father’s Day gesture struck a chord with social media users as the moment went viral.

Since being shared on Sunday, the video has attracted a whopping 619 000 likes and thousands of comments.

The video was shared via twitter by Jia (@jialaurenxo) and explained the love that two sisters share for their step-father.

Jia’s post revealed that her biological father was a drug addict and that he physically abused her mother.

Her step-dad entered their lives 12 years ago and had a huge impact on them, raising his step-daughters as his own.

As a measure of their appreciation, they did something unique and very special for Father’s Day.

Rather than spending money on material things, the two step-daughters changed their surname to his.

The gesture was the ultimate sign of love and respect and the significance certainly wasn’t lost on their step-father.
