Actress Thuso Mbedu recently took a 'walk down memory lane' and remembered a time when having no hope was better than false hope. She admitted that her struggles were so intense that it was painful to hope for a better life.
Thuso Mbedu's life may look fabulous to us looking in from the outside, but that doesn't mean she never knew hardship or difficult times.
She recently remembered a time when she felt hopeless, and when it seemed like she'd be in darkness forever.
The actress took to social media to share that it was painful to hope. She added that it may only be three years ago, but it feels like many years ago.
"I remember when it hurt to hope. There was a time in my life where no hope was better than false hope because it hurt to hope. This was three years ago. Feels like a lifetime ago."
Thuso may have come from a tough life, but that just makes her more of an inspiration. According to TimesLIVE, she has inspired many would-be actors.
She's also representing Mzansi in a big way - she's the lead in an American TV series, The Underground Railroad.
Briefly.co.za reported that Thuso is the first South African actress to bag the leading role in a US series.
