Thando Thabethe is undoubtedly one of the most sought-after women in Mzansi’s media and entertainment industries. The 5FM radio DJ is a true inspiration.

Being a black South African woman, Thando has proven that black women are capable and that they can. Thando has built an empire and grown her career in a way that is truly inspiring. learnt that it is Thando’s birthday today so we decided to dedicate an article to her incredible hustle.

A star was born in Soweto on 18 June, 1990. Thando is a total sweetheart with a great booty and a hard-core work ethic.

Thando’s journey to fame began when she was just a teen in high school. The beaut bagged TV gigs working on shows like YOTV’s Quest for Fame, Backchat and Celebrity Fast Facts.

In 2011, Thando was studying at the University of Johannesburg and worked at UJFM as a news reader. She later became the host of UJFM’s drive show, which lead to her scooping a spot on YFM where she hosted Audio Treat.

Thando also kicked off her acting career in 2011 when she stared in SABC 1’s My Perfect Family as Thando Nkosi.

It was in 2013 that Thando made a few appearances on bigger shows, such as e.TV’s Club 808 and SABC 1’s Intersexions. Hosting SABC1’s reality competition talent show 1’s and 2’s in 2014, Thando took a step closer to her big break.

2015 was the year of Thando’s big break. The beaut secured a role on a major soapie, Generations, as Nolwazi Buzo, which she played till 2017. From this moment forward, Thando Thabethe became a household name.

Since then Thando has hosted the 2016 South African Music Awards as well as the 2017 South African Film and Television awards. She has also stared in a few movies such as Love Lives Here and Mrs Right Guy, just to name a few.

Thando now has her very own radio show on 5FM called The Thabooty Drive, as well as a TV show called Thando Bares All, which got her nominated for best TV host and best talk show this year.

It is safe to say that Thando is a an absolute rockstar who still has many years left to show the world just what she is made of.
