- Briefly.co.za recently covered a story about South Africa's drop in the ranking of the world's msot peaceful nations
- South Africa clocked in at 127th
- Many Facebook users had a lot to say about this
Briefly.co.za recently shared a story which showed that South Africa had dropped two places in a ranking of the world's most peaceful countries.
This year, Mzansi came in at 37th in Africa and 127th worldwide out of 163.
Many readers took to Facebook to share their thoughts.
Many Facebook users said that they were not shocked by South Africa's position on the list, with some even expressing surprise that South Africa was not lower.
"It's a gangster state," wrote one user, Sabhara Partab. "Crime is the order of the day."
Another user chimed in to say that it was not South Africa as a whole that not was not peaceful, but rather " Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Durban and Jozi". They were suggesting that the majority of crime and violence in the country is concentrated in the urban centres.
One user, Luthando Mamkeli, wrote that KwaZulu-Natal, in particular, was a hotspot for violence. "I can assure you if KZN was a country it would be number last in africa," he posted. He added that it would be last in the whole world, if not for Iraq.
Some users also poked fun at South Africa's ranking. One user blamed South Africa's low position on "Julius and his friends", while another suggested that the low ranking was the fault of "AfriForum".
