Busi’s reaction to detractors: "I love them and I'm here to protect"

Public Protector Busi Mkhwebane shared an interesting response to her detractors ahead of SONA 2019 and social media users were quick to share their thoughts.

Public Protector Busi Mkhwebane hasn’t stayed far from news headlines following a number of controversial investigations recently.

Briefly.co.za previously reported on her investigations into senior political figures, such as Pravin Gordhan and Ace Magashule.

Mkhwebane has also come in for heavy criticism for her handling of some of these cases, particularly when she seemingly glossed over some of Magashule’s alleged transgressions.

On Thursday, she responded to her detractors ahead of SONA 2019.

Mkhwebane said, “I love them and I’m here to protect them and to make sure the livelihood of people changes.”

She added that her office intends to practice what they preach.

Eyewitness News also reported that Mkhwebane expects President Cyril Ramaphosa to focus on the plight of the impoverished.

Briefly.co.za noted the reaction from South Africans via social media.

She may have many critics, but it became evident that many South Africans stand behind Mkhwebane.

Elliot Fumba said, “Our Public Protector All Of Us We Love Her Or Not She Is Our Public Protector.”
Director-Dee Sithole commented: “I love her she is the enemy of WMC and its agents.”
FedeBro Monatetainment added, ”She's hot. I don't know if she's good at her job but sexy.”

However, not everyone was feeling the love.

Salma Sedumedi said, “PROTECT US FROM YOURSELF PLEASE.”
Andile Jimmy Mgwali added, “Topless, useless and clueless.”
