The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) joined thousands of South Africans and high-ranking politicians who congratulated Sho Madjozi on Tuesday after she won a BET Award in the category of Best International Act.
The political party took to social media to praise the musician’s invention of a music genre which incorporates a local Tsonga sound to hip-hop, Kwaito and Afro-pop. They also called the singer an artistic genius who embodies “artistic excellence”.
In a statement released on Twitter, the EFF said: “Through her music and achievements, Madjozi inspires hope that artistic excellence can create a pathway out of the depressing situation of drug abuse prevalent among the youth.”
This was quite an honour for the star to be commended for her "perfect example of black youth power and artistic inspiration". Take a look at the statement below:
Even the President Cyril Ramaphosa and ministers Tito Mboweni and Fikile Mbalula congratulated the singer on social media. Take a look at their tweets below:
Earlier today, Briefly.co.za reported that Mzansi celebs never fail to impress at the BET Awards. When our celebrities take to the red carpet for a prestigious event like this, they bring their A-game.
The 2019 BET Awards were held in Los Angeles and all our nominees flew over to represent Mzansi. Sho Madjozi made South Africa proud by bringing home the gold.
Briefly.co.za knows that there are sometimes a few questionable outfits, like Sjava’s last year, but our celebs generally dress to impress.
This year Mzansi rocked the BET red carpet. Nomzamo Mbatha dropped jaws and even made Cassper Nyovest catch the feels.
