- Having been there herself, Busisiwe urges young artists to know their worth
Mzansi actress Busisiwe Xaba explains how her Generations: The Legacy character, Palesa’s situation hits home for many South Africans.
Palesa does not have it easy. The poor young woman has been dealt a hard set of cards and struggles to get by no matter how hard she tries to change her life around.
Briefly.co.za learnt that Busisiwe is not just an actress; she is a youth pastor too. Being a youth pastor has allowed Busisiwe to understand the struggles that many South Africans are facing and just how rife these struggles are.
Talking to TshisaLIVE, Busisiwe explained how being a youth pastor prepared her for her role as Palesa. She explained how she too has faced some of the struggles that Palesa faces.
Busisiwe believes that when a person faces these struggles, when they feel like everything is against them, that is when they need to believe in themselves the most. You can’t simply give up.
The actress also highlighted how important it is to know your worth. Busisiwe told the story of how she was only paid R150 for her first job, but she fought for that R150 as initially she was not going to be paid anything at all.
The entertainment industry is filled with people who are willing to exploit others for their own gain. Busisiwe warns those entering the industry to be aware of these people and to never stand for anything less than what they are worth.
