On Wednesday, Police Minister Bheki visited the family of Sgt Donovan Prins - who was killed in the line of duty on 24 June.
On Wednesday, the SAPS took to Twitter to share photos of Bheki Cele's visit with the family of Sergeant Donovan Prinse - who tragically lost his life in the line of duty earlier this week.
"The family of late 34yr-old Sgt Donovan Prins who lost his life in the line of duty on the evening of 24/06 were visited today in Steenberg by the Police Minister, Gen #BhekiCele. Minister of Police also visited the scene of crime while engaging with community," the post was captioned.
According to The Sowetan, Prins responded to suspected gang violence when he was killed on Monday night.
The 34-year-old was part of the crime prevention unit at Steenberg police station, Briefly.co.za gathered.
He and his partner spotted five suspects in Lavender Hill. The armed thugs fled and when Prins and his partner decided to pursue them, they opened fire.
Prins was wounded and taken to hospital where he ultimately lost his life. Prins' family was left devastated and they are thirsty for justice.
"My brother died a hero," his sister said.
