"Shampompo" thieves: Thugs caught on video stealing expensive booze

No place is safe in South Africa with thugs even targeting liquor stores. A video surfaced on social media which showed three men robbing a bottle store.

On Wednesday, social media user Sipho Chiliza posted a video on his Facebook page which showed thugs robbing a liquor store.

The CCTV footage showed the men forcefully opening the overhead door of the bottle store before entering with white recycling bags, the Daily Sun reported.

The thugs then smash the glass cabinets where the expensive alcohol is reserved, filling the bags with the quality booze. No details on the robbery have been given other than that it took place on 18 June.

The video gathered over 42 000 views since it was shared on social media.

The video left Mzansi in stitches and some dubbed the thugs 'amateurs' for leaving DNA evidence every where.

Thandeka Gojus Hlongwane commented: "I guess they're not worried ngama finger prints."
Sbo Mafahleni Zuma joked: "A good day's work."

It is not the first time thugs targeted a bottle store. Earlier this month, Briefly.co.za reported an armed assailant attempted to rob a liquor store.

However, things did not go as he planned and he soon got a taste of his own medicine. A video was shared on social media which showed four men teaching the robber a lesson.
