This week saw a video clip going viral, depicting a man attacking a pastor, allegedly for wearing an EFF cap. The unknown assailant has handed himself in to police after an anonymous tip-off from a community member.

The man who made headlines this week for an alleged attack on a pastor has handed himself in to authorities.

Gauteng police have confirmed that the assailant handed himself over and is currently being detained at the Roodepoort police station.

The video clip went viral on social media, where the man can be seen approaching Ron Rambebu's vehicle and punching him through an open window.

Rambebu, a minister, had been filling up his car at the Engen petrol station when the incident took place.

The unknown man is now facing charges of assault with intent to commit grievous bodily harm, and is expected to appear in the Roodepoort Magistrate's Court soon, reports News24.

Rambebu has confirmed that the man has been identified as his attacker. The minister claims to have received a phone call from an anonymous woman who had described and identified his attacker.

The woman had reportedly revealed that the man frequents a Honeydew pub with friends. reported that the Economic Freedom Fighters have condemned the attack, calling for swift action to be taken against the attacker.
