Mzansi rapper, Emtee, has sent out a message on social media that he has lawyers and intends to sue journalists and certain publications for defamation of character and false accusations.
A number of publications have been writing about the rapper lately due to his situation with his record label, Ambitiouz Entertainment. Three publications who wrote the original articles about Emtee are Sunday World, City Press and TshisaLive.
But the rapper did not disclose which publication he intends to sue. Sunday World published the latest report which quoted a statement from Ambitiouz Entertainment, revealing how he had crashed his two cars within two weeks and moved out of his Midrand home because he allegedly failed to pay rent and left one of the rooms badly ruined and damaged.
Ambitiouz Entertainment denied repossessing Emtee’s house and said, “Emtee and his family decided to leave the rented house on the 22nd of April 2019 without informing the record label or the landlord. This was after the landlord raised several concerns to Emtee about the state of the house and the damage caused during his stay, including a room that was badly burned.”
"The landlord further highlighted the water and refuse bill which was not paid for over a year, resulting in a bill of over R93 034. Instead of informing the label or taking responsibility, he opted to leave with his family without giving any legal notice. As a result, the label had to continue paying rent on an unoccupied house,” read the statement.
But Emtee sought to his followers on social media for a little advice. He tweeted: "Can one sue a publication/writer for false accusations, defamation of character, etc. Lemme know. Sinama lawyer phela."
But tweeps were rather unkind to Emtee, calling him out that if he had a lawyer, why would he resort to asking social media users?
Some tried to offer him some advice too:
But others just mocked Emtee with memes:
Meanwhile two weeks ago, Briefly.co.za reported that music fans - and rapper Emtee's fans in particular - are not happy with local record label, Ambitiouz Entertainment. The muso can't leave the label because of his contract and this has caused lots of unhappiness.
South Africans are super-upset with local record label, Ambitiouz Entertainment. The label is refusing to let go of rapper Emtee and this isn't sitting well with his fans. They want him to be free.
According to City Press, Emtee is stuck with Ambitiouz Entertainment thanks to the contract that he signed.
It is also rumoured that the young rapper owes the record label millions. This is on top of the reports that the label repossessed his home and cars.
