A-Reece and The Wrecking Crew have been hit with a setback - a case of fraud has been opened against them after they didn't show up for a gig.

ZAlebs reports the group were booked for the Bloem Invades PMG Festival in Postmasburg, Northern Cape during the Youth Day weekend but fans were left disappointed when they didn't pitch.

The event's organisers say they've already paid their booking fee, as well as covered their travel costs.

According to SowetanLIVE, an amount of R47 650 had been agreed upon with the group's manager, Papers Motsamai.

Mownate Production paid the booking fee of R36 750 and the transport fee of R10 900.

Briefly.co.za gathered that The Wrecking Crew cancelled their performance without notice and refuses to refund the organisers.

They did pay back the transport fee and an additional R5 000 after saying that their driver disappeared with the money.
