A social media user identified as Monifa Phillips recently took to the micro-blogging platform, Twitter, to share the news of an astounding feat she has achieved in her academic career.
In a photo post shared on the platform, Philips disclosed that she has just become the first black woman to graduate from the University of Glasglow with a PhD in Physics.
"This week I was the very first black woman to graduate from the Uni of Glasgow with a PhD in Physics," she said.
Phillips went on to add that she is proud of her achievement as she deliberately made an effort to make room for herself in a field heavily dominated by white males.
She said it was not an easy fit, but it was achievable with the support of family and friends.
"I'm a proud Black British woman from LDN. I made space for myself in a predominantly white, male field. It was hard, but with the support of my family & my community, I did it," Philips tweeted.
