A video has surfaced on social media over the weekend which showed a brutal attack on a man in South Rand Hospital, Johannesburg.

The video showed hospital staff locking themselves behind gates as three men brutally attack another guy.

Briefly.co.za gathered the nurses called for the men to stop the attack as the other man doubled over in pain. At the end of the video the attackers drag the man to an open gate, leaving a trail of blood on the floor.

The footage received a lot of backlash over the lack of security at the hospital. Jack Bloom, the DA’s Shadow Health Secretary in Gauteng, called the incident "terrible" and he slammed the health department for not ensuring sufficient security at hospitals, The South African reported.
