Jakes Oosthuizen and his family were enjoying a drive through nature when they came up close and personal with an elephant.

Oosthuizen stopped his Cruiser, shut it off and waited for the elephant to pass. However, a video of the incident showed the mammoth animal having no interest in moving on.

Instead, he pushed against the vehicle as he investigated. In the video, Oosthuizen's daughter is heard repeatedly asking her father to close her window.

However, her pleas fell on deaf ears as the dad explained to Jacaranda FM that starting the Cruiser to close the window would have startled the animal and created chaos.

Briefly.co.za gathered that because her father did not close her window, the 17-year-old decided it was time to say a prayer.

She started off by asking God to forgive her sins and she then asked Him to take away the elephant. As she prayed for the elephant to move along, the massive animal indeed did walk away - giving the family an opportunity to escape.

South Africans were left both amused and touched by the video.

Debbie Ambrose Gloster commented: "I didn't know whether to laugh or cry at this. Shame this poor kid. I would have sent "pappa" to Jesus."
Chanel Swart added: "Life lessons? Trust your earthly father and your Heavenly Father."
Candice Candice wrote: "I had to 1st read the comments then watch the video... was too nervous to watch 1st. Now for my asthma pump...lol and to thank our Lord Jesus for His intervention...wow!!"
