Mzansi was bursting at the seams with pride when Sho Madjozi walk away with the BET award for the best international act. The airport was abuzz with fans, there to show Sho the welcome she truly deserves after she flew South Africa’s flag high.

Sho is known for popularising rapping in xiTsonga. Even though the rapper has made a name for herself on mainstream levels, she is able to stay humble and true to her Africanicity.

Briefly.co.za learnt that it was evident with the amount of supporters that turned up at the airport on Monday to welcome her home, that Sho is extremely popular.

The excitement portrayed by fans was caught on video by BET Africa and posted on their Instagram. It was a long wait, but the fans were patient waiting for more than two hours.

It was amazing to see many women dressed in colourful traditional Tsonga regalia. The abundance of colour did not stop there as fans showed off their colourful braids and hairpieces which have been made popular by Sho herself.

Not only did the Huku superstar win a BET award, she made history as the first female South African artist to do so.

Sho gave an inspiring acceptance speech, in which she said that her story is testament that no matter where you come from even if it is in a part of the world that is forgotten, you can still be a superstar. She said that all the girls living in Limpopo, which is the area she comes from, do not have to change who they are, they can still be big!
