Bafana Bafana managed to go through to the Afcon knockout rounds and it had Mzansi in disbelief. However, new reports suggest the team will get a massive payday for scraping through to the next round.
Bafana Bafana, whom South Africans dubbed 'Mabena Mabena', will get a massive bonus for making it to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) last 16.
According to the Daily Sun, each Bafana player will receive a R320 000 bonus despite qualifying only because Angola struck out.
South Africa Football Association (SAFA) president Danny Jordaan confirmed the bonuses, adding they was put in place because they expected them to at least go to the second round.
News of the players' bonus spread on social media and Mzansi felt the team did not deserve the payday.
Twitter user @ka_madesi commented: "We need to interdict that, @PublicProtector please help those cows don’t deserve that money."
Mzukisi Shaparov, @Mzukisi85806550, added: "bonus for scoring just one goal!!!"
Andile Tshaka, @andile_tshaka, wrote: "How dare u SAFA, will report to public protester should u give these Mabenas anything."
Meanwhile, Briefly.co.za earlier reported South Africans explained how they felt about Bafana scraping through to the next round.
Mzansi also poked fun at the national team on Twitter under the hashtag - #BafanaCanOnlyWinIf.
