Minister of Transport, Fikile Mbalula, has come out in support of Bafana Bafana in their pursuit of Afcon glory.
Mbalula, the former Minister of Sport, has never shied away from criticising the national football team for their mediocrity in the past.
In the past, Mbalula has labelled them as a bunch of “losers” and added that we don’t roll out the red carpet for mediocrity.
However, it seems that Mbaks has done a U-turn as he vocalised his support of Bafana via twitter.
In response to a post by Bafana goalkeeper, Itumeleng Khune, Mbalula said: “We will support the team. After all we don't have a second country.”
Briefly.co.za noted the reaction to the tweet and many shared a similar view – whether we like it or not, they represent Mzansi and need our support.
However, not everyone was on the same page and questioned the minister’s statement.
