Bafana Bafana won their match against Egypt, Mzansi is proud, and Egypt is feeling the burn. Local social media users reacted to a poster of Egyptian fans that said 'bye bye' to SA - there should be humble pie eaten.
By defeating Egypt in their #AFCON2019 match, Bafana made sure they're going to the quarterfinals and almost no one saw it coming.
Egypt's fans were so confident that their team would win that some of them had some pretty cheeky and arrogant posters as they sat in the stadium to watch the match.
One such group of fans had South Africans giggling (with some measure of glee) at their embarrassment - Bafana did not say 'bye bye', Egypt did.
Egypt's supporters were devastated, but many Bafana supporters enjoyed seeing their reaction as SA's team bagged their victory.
Briefly.co.za gathered some of the comments from amused tweeps:
@MoeketsiLesetla - Humble pie for them
@ArkuNutifafa - Arrogance Good riddance.
@YOUNGQUALII - Let them feel it, this is Africa.
@SaneleWShibe - Counting chickens before they hatch can leave you with egg on your face, eating humble pie
@Real_Cambridge - Lol I'm sure they burned those papers
