Lebo M is considered one of the most celebrated music producers in the world and he had to travel a difficult road to get to where he is now. He opened up about his struggles when he lived in exile.
Lebohang "Lebo M." Morake has achieved much greatness in his career as a music producer but had to overcome many difficulties on his way to becoming a celebrated man.
He recently opened up about his struggle when living in exile in the US, and how growing up in apartheid times taught him a number of lessons.
"It was apartheid still and I was in exile. Growing up in exile taught me many lessons. I had to have a sense of perseverance and dream bigger."
TimesLIVE reports Lebo said it was one of the toughest times of his life and despite the rejections and challenges he faced, he stayed strong.
Lebo added that those around him gave up or tried something else, but he was just motivated to work harder.
"I had to stretch myself as much as possible and work really hard. I couldn't take no for an answer."
All that dedication and hard work have paid off - Lebo got work with some of the world's biggest composers and musicians.
Briefly.co.za gathered this includes Hans Zimmer, Elton John, Pharrell Williams and most recently, Beyoncé.
For Lebo, The Lion King was his most satisfying accomplishment.
"There has been so much but I am still humbled by the surprise success of The Lion King. Nobody, not even Disney, knew that it was going to be such a success.
"The most proud moment for me was bringing the theatre production of The Lion King home. I mean to work with South Africans was incredible and really showed our talent to the world."
What a legend.
