According to Trump's tweet, the Reagan quote reads: "For the life of me, and I'll never know how to explain it, when I met that young man, I felt like I was the one shaking hands with the president."

Trump retweeted the post from an account called 'The Reagan Battalion', Briefly.co.za has gathered. At the time of Trump's retweet, the account had fewer than 300 followers.

This quote has been doing the rounds on pro-Trump social media pages since at least 2016. However, it is not real, according to PolitiFact.

While it is true that Reagan and Trump did meet in 1987 at the White House for a meeting of the Friends of Art and Preservation in Embassies, Reagan did not make the statement about Trump.
