Business man robbed and abducted in broad daylight, on video

A Johannesburg businessman was robbed in broad daylight by four armed men in Mayfair over the weekend. A video of the incident has been shared on social media.

According to TimesLIVE, the incident happened on the corner of Bird and Albertina Sisulu roads at around 10am on Saturday.

The police say that the businessman, his son and two workers were driving from the man's business premises when they were stopped by four armed men. Even though the four thugs threatened them with firearms, they managed to escape by driving away.

But the armed men continued to pursue them and blocked the car at a red robot.

"They demanded money and R5 000 was given to them. They demanded more money and when they didn't get it, they fired three shots, grabbed the businessman, pushed him into their car and fled."

The suspects' car was later recovered at Diepkloof Hostel in Soweto. One of the suspects was found with a gunshot wound and an unlicensed firearm in the front seat of the car. He was taken to hospital under police guard.

The police believe that the suspects fought among themselves and one of them ended up wounded. The businessman sustained minor injuries. Cases of kidnapping, attempted murder and armed robbery have been opened.

A woman recently shared a harrowing experience of how she was robbed and nobody came to her assistance. Briefly.co.za reported that Twitter user Pretty48115230 said that thugs jumped her while she was on her way home in Vereeniging. She claimed that they took her bags, which contained clothing, shoes and her laptop. They also allegedly took her purse, which contained her taxi fare and ID.
