Bafana Bafana’s Lebogang Mothiba heaped praise on his mentor, Stuart Baxter, and has full confidence in the coach’s game plan.
The big centre-forward played a crucial role in Bafana’s victory over Egypt on Saturday, thanks to his holdup play and assist.
Mothiba revealed he enjoyed the outing against the Pharaohs as he had more support upfront with Percy Tau and Thembinkosi Lorch.
Baxter employed a 4-3-3 formation, which allowed the front three to press the Egyptian back-line.
Mothiba lauded the coach’s tactics, but revealed that everyone may be surprised with an entirely new approach when they face Nigeria on Wednesday.
Mothiba said, "In the game against Nigeria‚ Coach might surprise us with other things. We never know.”
TimesLIVE reported that Mothiba trusts Baxter’s guidance.
He said, "He's gonna set up a proper game plan for Nigeria. He's the boss‚ he knows what he's doing. So we just have to follow his instructions and go there and give everything."
Briefly.co.za gathered that the change of approach against Egypt was largely down to the three-week training camp ahead of the tournament.
Despite being written off previously, Bafana actually head into the encounter against the Super Eagles in great shape.
Nigeria haven’t been able to defeat Bafana in their last five matches played, which includes an impressive away win for Bafana during the qualifiers.
