The incidents occurred in Gugulethu’s KTC, Blikkiesdorp and Athlone. Member of Executive Council (MEC) for safety and security in Cape Town, JP Smith, didn’t hesitate to contact the city’s Special Investigative Unit, as well as the police’s Anti-Gang Unit, in order to help quell the surge in violent gang activities.
