Cameras help police catch hijackers in 13 minutes, Mzansi impressed

- Police officers managed to catch two armed hijackers with the help of cameras

On Tuesday, Yusuf Abramjee posted a video on Twiter which showed cops catching two armed thugs after a hijacking.

According to the post, the Metro Police had the help of Sanral cameras - which tracked the thugs until they were nabbed 13 minutes later.

"Two armed hijackers caught by Sanral cameras. They were watched until the Johannesburg Metro Police could find them. @AsktheChiefJMPD @CoJPublicSafety," Abramjee captioned the post.

South Africans applauded the use of technology for assisting the police in catching thugs, Briefly.co.za gathered.

Vusi Sambo, who goes by the Twitter handle‏ @VusiSambo, commented: "Tech will go a long in improving our efficiency in crime fighting. Well done."
Twitter user, @goolammv, added: "If SANRAL was intelligent they should have used their cameras as a crime fighting tool from the beginning, public sentiment would have then been pro ETOLLS."
