Naelon Andrews, a young South African who recently went viral after being discovered by a stranger, has just released his first single with Universal Music.

The young man with the voice of an angel was walking down Merriman Street in George when Jessica Basson heard him singing. She initially thought it was a car radio playing and was surprised to discover the man singing.

She approached him and asked if he could perform the song for her colleagues, and he agreed. Basson recorded the entire song (and a second one) for everyone to hear.

Andrews is currently studying to become a teacher but has always dreamed of being a singer. The talented 21-year-old grew up with his mother, who is a cleaner, and a father who is a truck driver.

Ruben Delmage and the team at Groot FM flew Andrews up to Pretoria a few days after his post went viral, having told him that he would perform on air.

Little did he know that Bino Boshoff, the head of Afrikaans music at Universal Music, had joined the breakfast team to offer Andrews a full recording contract.

And just two months later and the talented young man has released his first song and video performing the original gospel song that led him to being discovered in the first place.
