Following Bafana Bafana’s inconsistent performances at Afcon 2019, speculation on coach Stuart Baxter’s future has been mounting.
One man that’s recently been linked to the Bafana hot seat is Mamelodi Sundowns coach, Pitso Mosimane.
Asked about the possibility of doing double duty for club and country, Mosimane was clear in his response.
SowetanLIVE reported that Mosimane fears that supporters of Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs would not accept him as coach of the national team.
He also pointed out that he is contracted to Sundowns and has no intentions of departing from the Brazilians.
Mosimane said, “I have a contract here at Mamelodi Sundowns and I don’t know if I can do both jobs at the same time.”
He added, “There is a big rivalry between Pirates‚ Sundowns and Chiefs and probably those fans won’t accept me to be the coach because of the rivalry within the country. But‚ in the DRC the coach is from Vita and the assistant coach is from TP Mazembe.”
Briefly.co.za gathered it could be a case of once bitten, twice shy as the Sundowns mentor reflected on his time while at SuperSport United.
He recalled how soccer fans accused him of favouritism whenever he selected SuperSport United players, even though he also opted for players from various other clubs.
