Beautifulnews reports that after Thabile fell pregnant in matric, she was judged but remembered the confidence that dance instilled in her.
After her son was born, she went on to study ethnomusicology while still performing as a dancer.
She became the first South African to receive the prestigious Choreomundus scholarship in 2015 and later graduated with a Master’s in Dance Knowledge, Practice, and Heritage in London.
Briefly.co.za gathered that Thabile has since returned to her home in KwaMashu, a township in Durban.
Here, she guides others who may be stumbling through similar pressures to what she faced as a teenager.
Also, with the Thabile Buthelezi Foundation, she’s making changes in the lives of others that are lasting.
Not only does she offer dance lessons, but Thabilie also gives career guidance and mentorship to people in her community.
