Marc Batchelor passed away on Monday night under tragic circumstances, with police reporting a hit-style incident.
The well-known former Kaizer Chiefs player died after attackers opened fire from the back of motorbikes.
Batchelor's career saw him playing for both the Chiefs and the Orlando Pirates, starting his career in the USA back in 1990.
Batchelor returned to Wits two years later, with the Pirates taking him on board a few years after. He was famous for his antics off the field, including being suspended from the Chiefs for an altercation with a fellow teammate.
702 reports that he was also a witness in the infamous Oscar Pistorius murder trial, where he testified regarding Pistorius' temper.
Batchelor had links to Mikey Schulz, who confessed to murdering Brett Kebble in 2005.
Police have confirmed that they are currently investigating the matter.
