Mzansi actress Pebetsi Matlaila hit the roof after a cashier insulted her daughter’s weight.

The Skeem Saam actress took to her Instagram account to explain what had happened in a video clip. She said she was out shopping with her daughter when a cashier started a conversation that ended in Pebetsi telling her where to get off after the cashier called Pebetsi’s 6-year-old daughter fat.

“I’m absolutely livid, like absolutely annoyed,” said Pebetsi.

The actress was in total disbelief at how insensitive the cashier was towards her daughter.

“Then says, ‘Oh she’s so fat!’ Did I get so pissed at her! First of all, can you let a child be a child. Can a child not worry about her weight at such a young age, a tender age like that. You gonna go around calling a child names like that?
“Something so hectic that could kill a child’s self-esteem… in front of her even? If you have nothing nice to say, then just shut the f*** up!” added Pebetsi in the video.

According to TshisaLive, Pebetsi received a lot of support from her followers on Instagram, who agreed that the cashier was insensitive and her alleged comments were uncalled-for.

Pebetsi captioned her video post: “My mother used to tell me ‘Pebetsi, it’s not a beautiful body that will get you far in life, what will get you far is a beautiful heart.’ And that’s what I try to instil in my daughter. Jerrr…”

She told one of her followers that “Like that woman really pissed me off. I didn’t care if she was a fan a stan or not. Not with my child and not with children of any ethnicity for that matter. We are supposed to build them not pull them down."

Last year, Briefly.co.za reported that with the number of cases involving child abuse and sexual assault on the rise, Pebetsi Matlaila has revealed that she is thinking of home-schooling her daughter in order to keep her out of harm’s way.

The actress, best known for her role as Mokgadi on Skeem Saam, has always been concerned about her child’s safety, but since hearing about the Dros incident, Pebetsi was looking over her shoulder more than ever.

She admitted that she lives in fear that something terrible could happen to her daughter and she doesn’t know who she can trust to look after her any more, so she feels that homeschooling is probably a good option.
