Based on the fiery exchange, Briefly.co.za noted that Zeillah’s girlfriend was irate over his refusal to give her an amount of R1 000.
According to her, previous boyfriends regularly offered her a girlfriend allowance in the region of R3 000 to R5 000.
The post sparked controversy as many social media users were stunned by the conversation.

While some agreed with the idea of a girlfriend allowance, others advised the young man to end the relationship as quickly as possible.
Phathutshedzo (@PhathutshedzoM7) said, “What the hell? I understand that you must give her gf allowance but R3000-R5000 is extreme accept if you can afford it and she trully needs it, that text is like that of a girl aged between 19 and 25 who's influenced by friends. Look lock that door and never open it. Trust me.”
Rre Mogorosi (@khuduMogorosi) added, “Your gf doesn't want love or relationship she wants a sponsor.”
Sibo (@DreamerSbosh) commented, “You need to learn to love yourself, you have issues for you to be even asking what must you do, the painting is on the wall. Take that R1000, R500 see a shrink, R500 savings.”
