The 12 Proteas netbsall players could walk away millionaires by the end of the weekend. According to Times LIVE, each player will get a whopping R1 million if they win the Netball World Cup in Liverpool.
The SA team secured a spot in the semi-finals on Wednesday after they beat Uganda. Briefly.co.za learned the team members will each receive R500 000 if they place second and they will get R1 million from their main sponsor, Telkom, if they win.
The team's title sponsor Spar, will offer an additional R1 million to split if they win. They will share R750 000 if they finish second and half a million if they place third.
The SA ladies are set to face off against either New Zealand or Australia in the semi-finals on Saturday.
Netball South Africa (NSA) president Cecilia Molokwane said the massive payday for the ladies would be well-deserved.
“Even before we talked money with them‚ they were here doing the most‚ delivering and winning games that have put us in the position that we are," Molokwane said.
